In the first of a new series of Artist Talks film maker Alex Reuben shows some of his recent films, and reveals how his experience as a DJ influences his creative work. Driven by his passion for music he investigates the link between improvisation and structure in both dance and film, and pursues his enduring fascination in how music – both on and off the dance floor - can illicit such different styles of dancing. The talk includes a Question and Answer session, and the exclusive UK preview of the full length version of Routes, which follows the path of blues, bluegrass and social dances across communities in the deep South of the US, as well as a selection of short films.
