Synopsis:

A timeless family classic which touches the hearts of all ages, based on the uplifting true story of the Von Trapp family, The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, the spirited young woman who leaves the convent to become governess to the seven children of Captain von Trapp, an autocratic widower whose strict household rules leave no room for music or merriment. Through her youthfulness and zest for life she brings happiness and love to the von Trapp family. The Sound of Music was the last collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II becoming one of the most successful Oscar-winning film musicals of all time.

The world's best-loved musical, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, continues to delight audiences in this lavish production at the London Palladium. Summer Strallen is the brand new Maria, and has taken over the coveted role to great critical acclaim. No stranger to the West End stage, Summer was last seen as leading lady in The Drowsy Chaperone and in Guys and Dolls.

Don't miss the opportunity to see her singing some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi and of course the glorious title song The Sound of Music.

The Sound of Music Reviews:

The hills are alive once more with the sound of a nun and a singing family telling us about a few of their favourite things, edelweiss and explaining that a doe is a deer, a female deer.

Widowed Captain Von Trapp employs young nun Maria as governess to his seven rowdy children, who have already seen off a host of other nannies. Through her love and the power of music she bonds with the children, while also falling in love with their father.

The Rogers and Hammerstein show is one of the world's most loved musicals and won six Tony awards when it premiered on Broadway in 1959. The 1965 Hollywood film, in which Julie Andrews donned the habit, won five Oscars, including Best Picture.
