26 January to 4 February - now booking
[27 September] Igor Stravinsky and Charles Ramuz's The Soldier's Tale, in a new version by Abdulkareem Kasid and Rebecca Lenkiewicz, will be presented at The Old Vic Theatre for 11 performances only from 26 January to 4 February 2006 - tickets are now on sale from Key2Theatre.
Stravinsky composed The Soldier's Tale in 1918 while living in Switzerland, in the midst of war-torn Europe. Working with writer, Charles Ramuz, he wove in with his own musical composition the Faustian story of a soldier who sells his soul to the devil in return for infinite wealth. This piece of musical theatre was the first of its kind. The intention was to create an inexpensive mobile production that could be staged simply and taken to the people.
A company of British and Iraqi actors and musicians will create a unique production of this classic work by borrowing from Iraq's recent history and the lives of the Iraqi actors and musicians in the company, which promises to find a unique new telling of the story. More details
